Kalrav

Status: Completed

A breathtaking residential project, KALRAV is designed with an aim to blur the lines between the old and the new resulting in a fusion of modern technology with ethnic concepts. This home for a Gujarati family has a sober facade created using an earthen palette, windows veiled with brick arches, and a gable roof. It is approached through a liner driveway lined with retained vegetation which complements the cobblestone flooring laid in circular patterns. The driveway opens into a large porch area where a lord Shiva figure is stippled on grey Kandla stone. The doorway is on the first floor which leads one to the foyer followed by a double-height lounge with a wooden clad ceiling and a gable roof. These areas are separated by a fixed glass and semi-gothic carved arches with a jáli in the central arch. This space exhibits a handcrafted chandelier inspired by a blooming lotus. The central lounge gives access to the pooja room, formal sitting area, family room, parents’ and a verandah that offers the stunning view of a zen garden. The folded plate staircase runs down to the ground floor consisting of a family sitting, home theatre, swimming pool, and a gym. Since the floor is for family activities and get-togethers, it displays bold and vibrant design elements. The second floor has three bedrooms and a terrace garden which is covered with pergolas. The charming and classy interiors in the rooms, as well as the open spaces, beautifully express the residents’ elegant choice.
