Mr. Shourya Patel's Residence
Status: Completed
The sprawling 2,000 sq. ft. house, Architect Shourya Patel’s residence is truly a designer dream packed with functionality, passion, and creativity. His beautiful 3-level family home displays a balanced amalgamation of all the family members’ interests and has rightfully become the talk of the town. The common living-dining-kitchen area is kept simple and sophisticated to cater to everyone’s taste and is segregated using different colours of floor tiles. The parents’ room on the ground floor showcases a minimal décor dominated by grey and silver to reflect their simple lifestyle. Also on the ground floor, his sister’s room reflects her naïve lifestyle with the use of white and magenta colours. And, Shourya’s own room is inspired by his fascination for village mud homes and their warmth. With the rough and rustic elements, the room is recreated to reflect the aura of village homes he has visited in the past. Though the room exhibits a balanced use of colours and mirrors, the striking highlight has to be the real tree branch which appears as if emerging out of the wall. The entire design is free-flowing and accentuated with creatively used straight lines to make the project exude simplicity and charm.
An enduring entry at the first-floor opens up to the common spaces.
Pseudo-sunk-in dining space made with a mix of materials – mosaic, brick, tiles, reclaimed metal, stone and glass.
The common spaces – living, dining and kitchen areas are arranged in a visual and physical barrier-free manner where the family spends their time together.
Ledges and levels are what the interior is made of, to allow everyone to style the nooks and corners their way.
The vertical lines end in the form of steps of the two flights, creating a very thoughtful and chic element of the house.
The master bedroom made consists of mud flooring and other rustic elements as liked by the architect himself. The vintage door complements the earthy feel of the room.
The most striking part of the room is the real tree branch placed to look as though it naturally comes out through the wall.
Bathroom in exposed bricks and natural stone lets one experience the warmth. To add some drama, it is fused with mirrors.
To match her lifestyle, the sister’s room is kept basic with a hint of magenta to signify the quirky side of hers.
Parent’s room is done in straight lines with greys and silvers to reflect their straight-forward nature and take on majorly everything in life.
